Finding Joy in the Small Things!
Finding joy in the everyday events of life… joy in our homes, gardens, relationships is one of the secrets to life! This is what I do best. I find joy in the little things. I experience joy in such mundane things as cozy fires, good books, watching hummingbirds and butterflies in my garden, decorating for Christmas, and nice, hot cups of coffee every morning.
Quotes to Ponder
Find joy in everything you choose to do. -Chuck Palahniuk
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. -Robert Bault
Empty Nester
Because I’m truly the eternal optimist, and I can usually find joy in most any situation, I am currently embracing several big life changes. I just recently retired after twenty years of teaching. Read more about this here! I am also experiencing the proverbial “empty nest,” which is a big adjustment. While I certainly miss seeing my boys daily, I am adjusting quite nicely to life after motherhood! I have plenty of time now to focus on things that I was forced to “put on the back burner” for all of those years!
Vintage and Antiques
I am working with my sister to run an antiques and collectibles business. We have two Etsy shops and also rent a booth in a local antique mall. If you are a lover of vintage decor and gifts, you can reach our vintage shop HERE. We also run a vintage bookshop that you can find HERE.
My Family
I am a wife and mother of two grown boys, and I also have a beautiful daughter-in-law. One of my sons is a full time college student, and my other son just earned his MBA in finance and is working at a university. My daughter-in-law is following in my footsteps as a second grade teacher! My family is the most important thing in the world to me. I have one sister, who you will read about a lot, as she is also my best friend!
My Hobbies
I am a very proud Texan whose hobbies include gardening, cooking and baking, antiquing, crafting, traveling, watching sports (mostly baseball and football), and spending time with my family. My newest hobby is blogging, and I really love it. I have been writing another blog for our antiques business for a few months now, and I love it!
In this blog, I plan to focus on the things that make me happy. You will read about home and family, gardening, crafting, cooking, decorating, and travel. Welcome to my world! Follow me on my journey, as I focus on finding joy in the small things. Thanks for stopping by!
